Ancient Forms

I saw you beneath the burden of heavy teal.
Its aqua beam skipped about your visage from the waves below.
The smile across that face is still grafted into my cortex.
It was as if you didn’t know.
But I’m fearful you just don’t care.

I never got to tell you

I watched the chaos pull you into the distance.
Yam lingering –
Just escaping the catch of moonlight.
Your smile still illuminated by the teal.
There I stood –
Frozen.
I didn’t want to interfere –
With what finally gave you joy.

I never got to tell you

A hand reached out embracing the pooling tides.
Ghostly –
It was what I prayed for.
But the Spirit never materialized.
Now weighted by the searing light.
I just lowered my head.

I never got to tell you

From the shore with me
Moon glowing eyes stalked your departure.
Their tears illuminated into the waters below.
Another final wave would wash them away.
As the night sucked you within its enclosure.

I never got to tell you
